چکیده

This paper presents an approach for retrieval of soil moisture in Nagqu region Tibetan Plateau using VV-polarized Sentinel-1 SAR and MODIS optical data, by coupling the semi-empirical Oh-2004 model Water Cloud Model (WCM). The Oh is first used to estimate surface roughness parameter based on hypothesis that invariant among acquisitions. Afterward, vegetation water content (VWC) WCM calculated from daily NDVI data obtained temporal interpolation. To improve performance model, parameters A, B, α are analyzed optimized randomly selected half sampled dataset. Then, retrieved minimizing a cost function between simulated measured backscattering coefficients. comparison with ground measurements shows determination coefficient R2 Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) 0.46 0.08 m3/m3, respectively. These results demonstrate capability reliability estimating over Plateau.

Estimation of Soil Moisture Index Using Multi-Temporal Sentinel-1 Images over Poyang Lake Ungauged Zone

The C-band radar instruments onboard the two-satellite GMES Sentinel-1 constellation provide global measurements with short revisit time (about six days) and medium spatial resolution (5 × 20 m), which are appropriate for watershed scale hydrological applications. This paper aims to explore the potential of Sentinel-1 for estimating surface soil moisture using a multi-temporal approach. To this...

Long term soil moisture mapping over the Tibetan plateau using Special Sensor Microwave/Imager

This paper discusses soil moisture retrievals over the Tibetan Plateau from brightness temperature (TB’s) observed by the Special Sensor Microwave Imagers (SSM/I’s) during the warm seasons of the period from July 1987 to December 2008. The Fundamental Climate Data Record (FCDR) of F08, F11 and F13 SSM/I satellites by the Precipitation Research Group of Colorado State University is used for this...

First Assessment of Sentinel-1A Data for Surface Soil Moisture Estimations Using a Coupled Water Cloud Model and Advanced Integral Equation Model over the Tibetan Plateau

The spatiotemporal distribution of soil moisture over the Tibetan Plateau is important for understanding the regional water cycle and climate change. In this paper, the surface soil moisture in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau is estimated from time-series VV-polarized Sentinel-1A observations by coupling the water cloud model (WCM) and the advanced integral equation model (AIEM). The vegetatio...

Evaluation of Multiple Downscaled Microwave Soil Moisture Products over the Central Tibetan Plateau

Downscaled microwave soil moisture (SM) products with a fine resolution are of great importance for both local and regional studies. However, few studies have explored the merits of multiple downscaled microwave SM products. An evaluation of the different products could help to advance knowledge of the downscaled microwave SM products and help researchers to choose the appropriate downscaled SM...

Evaluation of AMSR-E retrievals and GLDAS simulations against observations of a soil moisture network on the central Tibetan Plateau

[1] A multi-scale soil moisture and temperature monitoring network, consisting of 55 soil moisture and temperature measurement stations, has been established in central Tibetan Plateau (TP). In this study, the station-averaged surface soil moisture data from the network are used to evaluate four soil moisture products retrieved from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-Earth Observing Sys...
